How to cook Indian Chicken Curry

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger

  • 2 tomatoes, chopped

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin

  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric

  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions:

1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

2. Add onion and sauté until softened and lightly browned, about 5 minutes.

3. Add garlic and ginger to the skillet and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

4. Add cumin, coriander, turmeric, and cayenne pepper to the skillet and stir to combine with the onion mixture.

5. Add chicken cubes to the skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes until browned on all sides.

6. Add chopped tomatoes and water to the skillet and bring to a simmer.

7.Reduce heat to medium-low and cover the skillet with a lid. Cook for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened.

8. Season with salt and pepper to taste and garnish with chopped cilantro (if using).

9. Serve with rice or naan bread.
